I obtained my BSc Physiotherapy at The University of Cape Town in December 2017. As a student, I provided therapy to athletes and cyclists in the annual 2 Oceans Marathon and Cape Argus Cycle Tours. In 2014 I become a Co Founder of The Youth Academic Group in Khayelitsha (a township in Cape Town) which focused on grooming children (aged 3-18) in sports (soccer particularly), arts and academics.
I am currently doing my community service which I will be completing in December 2018, at a Community Healthcare Centre called Hlengisizwe, a rural placement where I am the only physiotherapist servicing the CHC and 6 satellite clinics. I am also part of the CHC’s netball team.
I recently (20/11/2018) had an opportunity to work with the KZN MEC of Health Dr S. Dlomo when he was visiting homes around Msunduzi Clinic (one of our satellite clinics).
In September 2018 I started volunteering as a physiotherapist for Swelihle Senior Citizens Club in my community in Pietermaritzburg.
I’m anticipating the change of working at Sian Scheepers Physiotherapy based in Glenwood High School which will bring great opportunities to grow as a therapist.
I will also be completing MOOCs based on Physiotherapy, Exercise and Physical Activity.
My special interests are sports and women’s health.
